How the Adoption Process Works

Once your application is approved, we'll work with you to identify dogs whose personality and energy level are a genuine fit. We encourage meet-and-greets so you and your potential new family member can connect before any commitment is made. For many adopters, this is the moment everything clicks. A home check may be arranged to ensure the environment is safe and suitable — this is not an inspection, but a friendly conversation and a chance to answer any questions you have.
Most placements are completed within a few weeks of application approval, though timing varies depending on availability and the specific dog. Adoption Requirements & Standards
Every dog we place has met our full care standard — and every adopter is asked to meet a few key requirements so we can ensure the best outcome for our dogs.
Spayed & Neutered
All dogs adopted through Perfect Pet Rescue are spayed or neutered prior to placement. We believe this is an essential part of responsible pet ownership and a commitment to reducing the number of homeless animals across Los Angeles County.
Fully Vaccinated & Vet-Checked
Every dog in our program receives a full veterinary exam and is current on core vaccinations before they are placed. Adopters receive documentation of all medical care at the time of adoption.
Adoption Donation
An adoption donation is required to complete your placement. This contribution helps offset the cost of veterinary care, spay/neuter services, and the ongoing support we provide to dogs in our program. Specific amounts are shared during the application process.
Completed Application
All prospective adopters must submit a completed adoption application before a placement can proceed. Applications help us understand your home environment and lifestyle so we can match you with a dog who will truly thrive with your family.
Home Environment Review
We conduct a friendly home review as part of the adoption process. This is an opportunity for our team to answer your questions, learn more about your space, and confirm that your home is a safe and loving fit for your new dog.
